How does it work?...

You need to ship a motorsports related item. You have bought or sold a chassis, a complete kart, cases of tires, a tire lathe, engine, transmission, etc. or you are a manufacturer or distributor and you need an affordable shipping partner to make your product more attractive to your customer. Look no further as you have found KartShip.com!

Average transit times range from 2-5 days depending upon the distance between the ship points. Average total costs range from $125.00 to $350.00+ depending upon total weight and distance. Please remember that initial quotes are approximate. Final invoiced amount is determined by final shipped weight and actual package dimension and density.

Whatever is being shipped needs to be properly packaged...which means crated or palletized. Crating works well for and should be used for items such as equipment or NEW products. Used karts, tires and other items can be simply palletized and protected. A proper sized pallet for the item can be obtained from a local home improvement retailer or motorcyle/ATV dealer (usually at no charge). Next, find large pieces of cardboard and staple to the pallet coming out from the 4 sides. Secure your item to the pallet with strapping or zip ties. Wrap the cardboard up and over, tape and then stretch wrap to complete the package. As freight rates are based upon density, you want to make the smallest package possible (unbolting the steering shaft on a kart, removing the steering wheel, wheels/tires and tucking inside the kart, etc. All misc. or fragile items should be boxed..ie...engines, tach/temps)
DO NOT DOUBLE STACK and the SHIP TO: address should be clearly marked on the top.

Below is an excellent example of proper packaging by Tom Kirwan
of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.

To avoid unnecessary additional charges, we ask that shipments be from: and to: a "business" address. Worry not as a dock or fork lift is not usually necessary, but if not available, we ask that 2 people be present to assist in unloading the pallet from the trailer. Although the drivers are very helpful, they cannot be expected to load or unload your freight. You can use ANY business location that is accessible by a semi truck...such as most commercial workplaces, auto parts stores, ATV dealers, etc. In the unlikely event that a business address is not available, trucking terminal drop off / pick up is an option.

The receiver should inspect the shipment thoroughly and be sure to note any damage to
packaging or contents on the delivery receipt PRIOR to the driver leaving.
It is also always a good practice to sign the Delivery Receipt with
"Subject to Inspection" and thus be covered in the case of hidden damage. Digital pictures of anything questionable upon receipt are also helpful if a claim is filed. KartShip.com is a service company that handles the logistics and paperwork involved. We are not the actual carrier and therefore not responsible for payment for any damages or claims.
If item is used, basic (no additional cost) insurance coverage from the carrier is paid at .50 per lb. shipped. NEW items can be insured for an additional cost of $5.00 per lb (optional). Original selling receipt would have to be presented if requested.

The above is an example of how NOT TO ship a kart. No protection was provided and we
are actually very shocked that the driver even picked it up. This is just asking for damage.

In the unlikely event your merchandise arrives damaged, mark all shipping documents as "damaged in transit" with a description of the damage.
You may then elect to refuse the shipment or accept it and file a damage claim.

Occasionally a wrapped package will look fine on the outside, but have a dent or puncture once it is unpacked. This is referred to as "concealed damage". Notify the trucking company immediately and request an inspection by the carrier.

If you must file a damage claim, keep all original shipping containers and outside wrapping. The transportation inspection agent will want to see it.

It is extremely useful to have photographic evidence of any damage. If you can take digital photographs and be able to provide them to the inspector, it will help them to better understand the extent of the damage. Final settlement of the claim is between you and the transportation company.

The shipper lets us know when the pallet(s) is/are ready. We fax the paperwork to the shipper and call in the truck to make the pick up. Pick ups usually are made between 1-5 pm in the afternoon. The paperwork must be presented to the driver along with the pallet or crate to insure proper billing. For payment, a valid credit card is required (established customers may receive NET 15 billing). It is pretty simple really and our experience makes the shipping of your karting related item stress-free and easy for all parties.

For a quote, please have the 2 zip codes, the approximate weight and package dimensions. An easy to use form is available at the link to the left.

Thanks for visiting and we look forward to being of service to you.
